Chepauk Super Gillies went against JonesTuti Patriots at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Saturday. It has a hard outing for the Gillies as they lost the game by 7 wickets to the Patriots.
Chepauk Skipper Gopinath won the toss and decided to bat first. The chennai team decided to made two changes, with Aarif and Siddarth replacing Sunny Kumar Singh and B Arun. For the Patriots, Abhishiek came in for Akash Sumra.
Openers Karthik and Ganga Sridhar Raju got off to a very good start with a 41 run partnership. But, that partnership was broken when Sai Kishore removed the left hander Ganga for 23. Another partnership was going on really well for the Gillies as the captain Gopinath and Karthik looked on song. But, this time, Karthik was caught by Abhishiek to ensure the second wicket for the leftie Sai Kishore. He was dismissed for 43 off 31 balls. Murugan Ashwin was the next batsmen, but he headed back to the pavilion for a score of 15. Harish Kumar came into destructive effect as the right-hander scored 27 runs off just 12 balls with two maximums and two fours. Sasidev and Aarif added 8 runs, whilst at the other end, Gopinath added 40 runs patiently to take the score to 167. Sai Kishore stood out for the opponents with 2 wickets.
Dinesh and Kaushik Gandhi opened the batting for Tuti Patriots. These two produced a good start worth 49 runs, but Siddarth sent Dinesh back to the pavilion. Subramanian Anand formed a formidable partnership with Kaushik for the same 49 runs. Harish was the wicket taker on this occasion. Abhishiek and Rajagopal Sathish scored 47 runs from just 20 balls. Harish was the highest ticker for the Gillies with 2.
The top four hopes have faded away for Chepauk, but they will be looking for two points when they face VB Kanchi Veerans on Tuesday.
