Chepauk Super Gillies played their final game in the Tamil Nadu Premier League season 3 against Dindigul Dragons at Dindigul trying to secure second victory of the season. But, the season ended in manner to forget as they lost this game by 9 wickets.
Winning the toss, Dindigul Dragons told Chepauk to bat first. It was not a pleasant start for the Gillies as they lost Karthik early for a score of 13 runs. Baskaran Rahul and Gopinath slowly added runs, but when the momentum was starting to drift to the Gillies, they lost another opener for 14 runs. Murugan Ashwin was promoted up the order to stamp the authority. But, at the other side, Gopinath and Sasidev were dismissed within 3 balls. During 14th over, Ashwin headed back to the pavilion when the score was 89. Aarif stood until the end to take the total to 120 runs. Harish Kumar and Sivakumar added 11 runs. But, Samruddh, Arun Kumar and B Arun got out without disturbing the scorers. Silambarasan was the pick of the bowlers for the Dragons.
Openers for Dindigul were Jagadeesan and Hari Nishanth. Both of them played an extraordinary innings and took the partnership to 89 runs. Hari fell to Murugan Ashwin for a score of 34. Vivek came off the bench to finish things off quickly. The scoreboard showed Jagadeesan going past half-century by talling 63 runs, whereas Vivek to 20 runs. Murugan Ashwin picked the only wicket of the second innings.
It was not a season for the Gillies, where everything went to their plan. But, with this young team, there are lots of positives to take and carry on to the next season.
