Chepauk Super Gillies take on Karaikudi Kaalai at MA Chidambaram Stadium in what might promise to be an exciting contest as the home side are looking to register their first win in this edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. On the other hand, the away side are looking for their second victory.
Skipper Gopinath along with Ganga Sridhar Raju, Karthik and Sasidev have been striving hard to change the fortunes with the bat. The top-order will look to fire against this side and play the rest of the tournament with total astuteness. However, Ganga and Karthik have produced starts and they're looking to produce some big scores this time around. Rahul scored a half century against Trichy, standing out as a positiveness for the team. Murugan Ashwin, Sunny Kumar Singh, Vishal, Siddarth and Alexander have been among wickets. Gillies are trying to balance both bowling and batting to gain two points against Karaikudi.
Karaikudi Kaalai were close to securing a win in a game against Kovai Kings, but only fell in the super over. However, convincing performance in the second game against Kanchi Veerans meant they go into this game with confidence. Kaalais with Anirrudha, Bafna and Adithya have been firing in the first two games. They would want to continue that form. Other batsmen have not been tested much. With the ball, Yo Mahesh, Mohan Prasath, Bafna, Swaminathan and Raj Kumar have been picking wickets at rregular intervals. Bowling against this resilient Chepauk side would be a test for the Kaalais.
Nearly four to five days without any action, the Gillies are sweating it out in training to improve their game and bag all two points against Karaikudi Kaalais. It will be a tough battle to see who come on top on saturday and certainly, Hemang Badani eyes all the points available.
