Review – Chepauk Super Gillies Vs Lyca Kovai Kings

Chepauk Super Gillies played Lyca Kovai Kings in the 16th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. It was a tough night for the Gillies as the team from Kovai were able to come out on top, with a 53 run victory.

Winning the toss, Lyca Kovai Kings opted to set the score for Chepauk Super Gillies. Shahrukh Khan and Abhinav Mukund were the opener for the Kings. They both combined to produce a very good start with a partnership of 90 runs. Aftermath, Harish Kumar dislodged the stumps and Abhinav Mukund had to head towards the pavilion. On the other hand, Shahrukh Khan scored 59 runs off 45 balls. Alexander struck next to dismiss Ashwin Venkatraman. Akkil Srinath and Rohit were the next batsmen to follow Ashwin for measly scores. At the end, Anthony Dhas and Prasanth Rajesh added 38 runs combinedly to post a total of 158. Alexander and B Arun were bowlers standing out for Chepauk.

For the Gillies, Ganga Sridhar Raju and S Karthik started the proceedings with the bat. But, the openers did not produce a good start as Gillies were reduced to 3-2. Just when Gopinath was stepping on the accelerator, he was dismissed for a score of 14. Rahul was bowled by Ajith Ram for just one run. In the middle order, Sasidev and Rahul tried their best, but the 40 run partnership was put to an end by Natarajan. Harish Kumar, Vishal, Sunny Kumar Singh, Alexander and Arun were not able to add much runs towards the end. Manigandan was the highest wicket taker for Kovai with 3.

Top four hopes might fade away, but Gillies are looking to salvage from the next game when they play Tuti Patriots on Saturday. On the other hand, Lyca have registered their third victory from five games.
