India Vs West Indies : T20 Series Review

Following the Test and ODI series triumph, India and Rohit Sharma would be looking to seal the shorter format of the game which kicks off at the Eden Gardens today. The visitors have shown their adroitness at times, but the failure to capitalise with it has cost them earlier in this tour. Followed today’s game, the second and third T20 game will be held at Lucknow and Chennai respectively. Virat Kohli has been rested for this series. But, there was a surprise exclusion in the squad, with Rishabh Pant, called up instead of the former skipper MS Dhoni.

Uncapped Krunal Pandya and left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed has been included in the squad. The left-arm spinner has been consistent with his performances for Baroda, Mumbai Indians and India A over the last few years. Having played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Kuldeep Yadav’s spin bowling will come as an advantage for the hosts. Once again, India will start as favourites as they head into the T20 series. Eden Gardens has been a happy hunting ground for Rohit Sharma. The right-hander scored 264 in the ODI, a test ton and lifted two IPL trophies at Kolkata. The same will be expected from the Skipper when India take up the field against the Windies today. The 12 men squad for the first T20 was announced on Saturday.

FIRST T20 SQUAD: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (Wicket Keeper), Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Khaleel Ahmed, Yuzvendra Chahal.
